DJ Palotai Day
In memory of the legendary DJ Zsolt Palotai, who passed away in 2023, DJ Palotai Day is being organized by the House of Hungarian Music and the newly founded DJ Palotai Foundation.
Besides preserving the memory of the DJ who had an indisputable impact on generations and on Hungarian musical culture, this tradition-creating event was founded with the aim of passing on the epoch‑making musical approach and oeuvre of Pro Cultura Urbis Award-winner Zsolt Palotai, and of nurturing and developing the Hungarian electronic music and DJ culture.
This forward‑looking, innovative, unique and authentic day, which promotes a diverse musical culture that spans styles, quality music listening, musical awareness and community building, awaits visitors with entertaining, informative and educational programmes. The event is family‑ and child‑friendly; the organizers warmly welcome everyone who is interested.
At the Opening at 2 p.m., Márton Horn director of the House of Hungarian Music, Mona Palotai chair of the board of trustees of the DJ Palotai Foundation, and Zsolt Prieger, founder of Anima Sound System, will deliver speeches, while DJ Q‑Cee (Random Trip) will perform an audiovisual Scratch Show.
On the Open‑air Stage, seasoned DJs also known from Tilos Rádió will play music from the afternoon until the evening. Titusz, Infragandhi, Beta, Crimson, Mango, Oliv:R, Q‑Cee and the young talent Maron will bring their favourite records and the latest tracks. Whether it’s about dancing, conversations or quality music listening, entertainment is guaranteed.
In the Library, between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., we are preparing workshops specifically for career‑starter, emerging performers, DJs and music producers. Take a look into the practices of music production, DJing and artist management. Learn from recognized professionals of the music industry, develop your knowledge and creativity, meet your peers and gain new momentum for your development. Presentations by Gáspár Horváth (JumoDaddy, Irie Maffia), János Herold (IamYank, ImproSchool), Gábor Tóth‑Józan and Gergő Tóth‑Józan (Dublic, Next Level Music School), and Márk “Marka” Bóna (Sziget, Bergtalents) await all those interested.
In the Auditorium, the concert programme starting at 8 p.m. invites the audience interested in refined, innovative, forward‑looking and detailed electronic music on a two‑hour musical journey. The evening begins with a live act by Eril Fjord and concludes with a special DJ set by Cadik.
Eril Fjord is an artist working in the world of ambient and electronica, a quiet rebel of the Hungarian electronic music scene, who will open the concert programme with a one‑off, unrepeatable live act created specifically for this occasion.
As a DJ and producer, for nearly two decades he has been obsessed with delicately structured, story‑centred material. His own works are imbued with a kind of duality between modern, contemporary music and retrospective synthesis. Delicately textured, improvisational pieces that avoid musical elitism. Elevated, instinctive and sentimental sounds from the borderlands of ambient, electronica and krautrock. His third solo album, ‘Lost Tapes Of Interkomos’, released in 2025, pays tribute to the space journey of Bertalan Farkas, whose work on the album was personally overseen by the former astronaut.
At 9 p.m., Cadik will take the stage with a special production mix. During the concert, in addition to his tracks released by renowned European labels, exclusive, as‑yet‑unheard, unreleased compositions will also be played.
A cult and essential figure of Budapest’s music scene, he has been active for more than 30 years. Although his art is rooted in dub and hip‑hop, he is able to constantly renew himself and always focuses on innovation. A musical futurist, he has a keen sense for recognizing and following emerging trends and talents. In his mixes and releases, he often presents the experimental – non‑linear – side of the styles he represents.
He is a highly versatile, acclaimed beatmaker. He has produced material in various genres; among others, greats of the Detroit hip‑hop scene (Slum Village, Black Milk, Blu, Elzhi, Illa J, Georgia Anne Muldrow, M.E.D.) have also collaborated on his records.
He is a film score composer; in 2007, his team (Membran) was awarded the prize for Best Original Film Score at the Hungarian Film Week.
He has been a pioneer and Hungarian representative of British deep dubstep from the very beginning. He strengthens the rosters of the cult labels Artikal Music UK, White Peach Records and Duploc, as well as the Hungary‑related Frozen Plates, with his releases.
Zsolt Palotai’s former closest DJ partner and co‑founder of the legendary Rewind series has by now become an internationally recognized music producer, a creator on the European scene.
At the Sound Dome venue, visitors can enjoy the DOME 30 Dj Palotai visual projections created in 2025 by Kiégő Izzók. This special audiovisual experience was created to DJ Palotai’s archival mixes.
