Ligeti in the Park - Open Air Installation Opening

In the spirit of one of György Ligeti's most famous works, Poème Symphonique, BA Students from the Electronic Music Media Art course at the University of Pécs will create an installation of solar-powered, electromechanical sound-generating devices in the outdoor space at the House of Music Hungary. Under the guidance of Balázs Kovács, the students create these sound-making devices as part of their curriculum and have installed them among the lawns, trees and bushes of the City Park. The sound installation can be heard but not seen by anyone who strolls past, but for a fuller experience, guided sound walks will also be organised by the House of Music Hungary team. Since these gadgets are powered by solar energy, when the sun sets the sounds they make gently fade away, only to spring back to life when the sun rises again.
