The Lost String (2007)
The Lost String (2007)
The film can be viewed for free, but only with a Marc Ribot concert ticket.
Marc Ribot, one of the most exciting guitarists of all time, will give a solo concert at the House of Music on May 21, 2025. As a program related to the concert, we will screen the 2007 documentary about Ribot, The Lost String, directed by French filmmaker Anaïs Prosaïc. In the film, Ribot plays music and tells stories, and also travels through his beloved New York City, giving us an insight into the city's artistic bloodstream with guest appearances such as Arto Lindsay, John Zorn and the Lounge Lizards.
The film will be screened with original sound, in English, with French subtitles.
How could we concisely describe Marc Ribot, this American guitarist born in 1954, who has created lasting works in so many fields from avant-garde jazz to experimental rock and free improvisational music? And who has collaborated with hundreds of artists from Tom Waits to Laurie Anderson to Norah Jones and has contributed to over five hundred (!) albums! Let's just say he is one of the great guitar geniuses of the New York underground, who, while venturing to explore extremes, always remains a lovable, introverted figure. This time we can see him solo in Hungary, at an event where only one thing is certain: we will get a guaranteed unforgettable concert.
