Hustle Workshop - Elettra (ITA)
On 13–14 June 2026, the House of Music Hungary in Budapest will host the We Got the Vibes international street dance event, where music meets dance and a vibrant community in the heart of City Park. On Sunday, 14 June from 14:00, Italian dancer Elettra will hold a hustle workshop on the Outdoor Stage.
On Saturday, authentic break, hip hop and house battles will fill the most beautiful spaces of the building with pulsating energy – accompanied by four DJs and a live band. Dancers, judges and musicians coming from different parts of the world will together bring the energy that is the true essence of street dance culture.
In addition to the battles, we are also welcoming participants to workshops held by foreign judges and guests on Saturday morning and during the day on Sunday. The dance class levels vary: there will be beginner, intermediate and open-level workshops as well!
Elettra discovered the world of Hustle in London in 2013, then her desire to gain a deeper understanding of the roots led her to New York, where she studied, connected and danced together with the Hustle community — including original dancers from the 1970s. She later trained with such renowned dancers as Crazy Smooth, Graziano Boggiani and Veronica Castilla. Elettra’s style is built on the foundations of the original New York Hustle while also blending influences from Salsa, Lindy Hop and Breaking — thus creating a dynamic and personal dance language.
The workshop is open-level; we will start with the basic hustle steps and then learn increasingly challenging tricks and movements. Hustle is a partner dance that was born in the 1970s at block parties in the South Bronx, thanks to Puerto Rican teenagers. It started in a marginalized urban environment, where dance became a symbol of resistance and positive change for communities facing everyday racism. Influenced by disco music and Saturday Night Fever, Hustle became increasingly popular in studios and theatres as well, while being further shaped by styles such as tango and West Coast Swing — until it took the form we know today as Hustle.
