The Sunlit Path – A Summer Evening with the Danubia Orchestra
This programme is held in Hungarian.
To ascend to the light – everyone experiences at least once how liberating it can be when we break free from the grip of darkness. At the Danubia Orchestra’s open-air summer evening concert, the symphonies of Mozart and Schubert, built on the dynamics of light and shadow, show that without music conceived in darkness, even sunlight does not sparkle so brilliantly. The concert’s conductor, Máté Hámori, will talk about the works, the relationships between their keys, the performers’ dilemmas, and the spiritual kinship of the composers.
Founded in 1993, the Danubia Orchestra, as a result of conscious and meticulous professional workshop work, rose within a few years into the ranks of the country’s finest professional symphony orchestras, and has since become a recognized force in Hungarian musical life. The ensemble has already been conducted by such outstanding maestros as Zoltán Kocsis, Tamás Vásáry, Péter Eötvös, György Vashegyi, Ken-Ichiro Kobayashi, and Sir Neville Marriner, and among the soloists they have accompanied are Éva Marton, Andrea Rost, Erika Miklósa, Katalin Kokas, Barnabás Kelemen, László Fenyő, Gergely Bogányi, and Dezső Ránki. They regularly receive invitations from abroad and have performed several times in Spain, Germany, France, and Italy; they are returning participants at the music festivals of Ludwigsburg, Milan, Hanover, and Zurich. Since 2013, the orchestra’s artistic director and the creator of their programs has been the conductor Máté Hámori.
Covered Open-air Stage concerts
The program will be held even in rainy weather, as the Open-air Stage is largely covered.
