The Sunlit Path – A Summer Evening with the Danubia Orchestra
This programme is held in Hungarian.
To reach the light – everyone experiences at least once how liberating it can be when we break free from the grip of darkness. At the Danubia Orchestra’s open-air summer evening concert, the symphonies of Mozart and Schubert, built on the dynamics of light and shadow, show that without music conceived in darkness, even sunlight would not glitter so brightly. The concert’s conductor, Máté Hámori, talks about the works, the relationships between keys, the performers’ dilemmas, and the spiritual kinship of the composers.
Danubia is one of Hungary’s leading symphony orchestras which, thanks to its special programming, genre experiments, strong online presence, children’s concerts, and social projects (Common Tone, Beethoven Project), has become one of the most distinctive artistic ensembles in recent years.
An important aspiration of the orchestra is to bring classical music closer to the audience, including younger audiences, and so it strives to look at the often rigid forms of classical music with fresh eyes.
At the concerts of their “Nothing Serious” series, they reach out to interested listeners by combining genres (Mozart x Jazz, Bach x Folk, Puccini x Soul, Bartók x Electric, Renaissance x Beatles) and by offering entertaining post-concert programs (jam sessions, dance houses, symphonic karaoke, etc.) with the participation of renowned performers.
Their children’s concerts, with a wide repertoire and an informative-entertaining character, attract huge numbers of children and families, and their “Kalandra Fül” Festival is Hungary’s only classical music festival specifically for families.
At their sold-out concerts in the Academy of Music, alongside well-known and lesser-known masterpieces, they always perform contemporary works, conducted by the orchestra’s conductor, Máté Hámori, or other invited internationally renowned conductors.
Covered Open-air Stage concerts
The program will be held even in rainy weather, as the Open-air Stage is largely covered.
