Gábor Tokár – the drummer of Vad Fruttik – has an alter ego, Ficture, which creates unique sound collages drawing on a wide variety of sources: field recordings, digital and analog synthesizers, various percussion and other instruments, vocal fragments, as well as the reinterpretation of all these to the point where their origin becomes almost unrecognizable. His first album, Roads To Everywhere (2014, Lemongrassmusic) received favorable critical acclaim: according to Sound Color Vibration it is “as soothing as it is exciting,” while Funkadelphia described it as “meticulously electronic, yet strikingly organic.” His later EP, Filled Spaces (2018, Audiobulb Records) launched a European tour and was selected by IglooMag as one of the best of 2018.
Ficture’s recent years have been defined by artistic collaborations and remixes, while his constantly evolving live performances are built on improvisation: he employs a multi-instrumentalist approach, using various instruments, controllers, synthesizers and effects all at once.
