Sorvina (GER)

Born in New York, Berlin-based Sorvina has roots in hip-hop, but at the center of the singer-rapper's musical identity, who lives and breathes for storytelling, are live instrumental performances. Her songs are situated at the intersection of jazzy rap, neo-soul, alternative hip-hop, and gospel. Her music evolves as dynamically as her life story vibrantly unfolds. Sorvina grew up in a relatively quiet suburb of New York, finding her voice first in the world of folk singer-songwriters, which showcased an acoustic musical world and tragicomic lyricism. However, as she continued her personal and artistic journey, Sorvina soon became brave enough to admit that she had always wanted to be a rapper. Characterized by rhythm and rhyme, distinctive storytelling, and captivating beats, every song is another chapter in her never-ending story — narrating everything from the challenges and joys of her identity to the constant mobility defining her existence.
