El Khat
El Khat plays with recycled instruments, creating a unique style of music rooted in Arabic melodies and Yemeni musical traditions. This music can almost be defined as an independent genre, based on metal and wooden percussion instruments, rhythm-focused, culminating in psychedelic escapade. Led by the Arab-Jewish Eyal El Wahab, the band contrasts inexpensive, mostly recycled, but tradition-based rhythm instruments with Yemeni melodies, resulting in intense, hypnotic songs driven by organ and unique string instruments, exuding a sense of novelty. The band will be arriving at the House of Music with their third album, mute, released in the fall of 2024.
Before and after the concert, the hosts of radiocafé’s Conga Heaven, Bongo Hell! program, Cyborg Templar and Tibsã will spin records in the foyer of the House of Music. The set will feature music from diverse ethnic groups around the world, from roots to contemporary hybrid dance tunes.
