As All Souls’ Day approaches, we turn our attention to our relationship to life and passing – on this evening we look at life and death from two complementary perspectives. On the one hand, the lecture presents a slice of the rich folk tradition that deals with passing; Réka Annus and her band perform laments, dirges and ballads that have helped generations in their work of mourning. On the other hand, with the contribution of the Hungarian Hospice Foundation, texts born from personal experiences and encounters are heard about death, accompaniment and human dignity. The performance appears on stage with the collaboration of dramaturg Petra Al-Farman. It becomes clear how inseparable death is from life, and that there is always hope in every situation, so even in the immediate proximity of passing, on All Souls’ Day, we are still able to celebrate life.
