Kurtág100 | Brefs messages: Moment’s Notice – Modern Art Orchestra

The greatest composers are known for leaving behind not only their works, but also their worldview and philosophy. Like György Ligeti and György Kurtág, the Moment’s Notice Trio has created a unique musical language that is unlike anything else. During their concert, short excerpts from the composers' pieces are played from recordings, after which improvisation and spontaneity take center stage, inspired by classical music, jazz, and electronica. The trio of György Kurtág Jr., László Gőz, and Miklós Lukács is complemented by composer-improviser Lukas Ligeti on percussion and Kornél Fekete-Kovács with his unmistakable trumpet playing and electronic accompaniment. In the second half of the concert, the Modern Art Orchestra, led by Kornél Fekete-Kovács, introduces Kurtág's music to the world of jazz and transports the audience into the shared universe of these two worlds.

On György Kurtág's 100th birthday, we are presenting the latest Hangdóm film, Kurtág-univerzum (Kurtág Universe), in honor of the composer, in which György Kurtág's abstract mood sketches come to life to the sounds of the cycle Zwiegespräch, composed with his son, György Kurtág Jr. in the special space of the House of Music. The 15-minute Sound Dome film Kurtág-univerzum, produced by the Budapest Music Center as part of the Kurtág 100 program series, will remain available for viewing among the Hangdóm 360 cinema screenings after the premiere.
