Musical Illusions
This programme is held in Hungarian.
What happens when classical music meets magic – not merely as background, but as an equal partner, woven together into a story? Benedict Magic and the Risoluto Quartet invite the audience of the House of Music to a special evening that is more than a simple concert or magic show. Imagine, for example, a fragment of sheet music that assembles itself into a complete score before our very eyes, or a melody chosen by members of the audience that the musicians then perform on the spot. After every trick, a piece of music is born, which in turn conjures up a new piece of magic, so that music and illusion intertwine to tell us a story.
The Risoluto String Quartet was founded in 2023. Its members (Tímea Iván, Noémi Molnár – violin, Barna Juhász – viola, Pál Banda – cello) are world‑traveling artists who regularly perform in various orchestras and international chamber ensembles. The group has given concerts, among other venues, at the Hungarian House of Music, the Bartók Memorial House, FUGA and on Bartók Radio. They are happy to enliven their performances by involving other branches of the arts.
Benedict (Benedek Béres) is one of the most unique creators in Hungarian magic: his shows are built on self‑devised feats, using the objects and ideas of our time. Under the professional guidance of his mentor, Gergely Molnár (Mr. Jupiter), he developed his own creative approach at a young age. By his twenties he already had more than ten years of professional experience and had given hundreds of performances, including a show on the stage of the Puskás Aréna Park in front of more than 20,000 spectators. His performances are at once intimate and suited to the grand stage, tracing an arc that leads from quiet astonishment to shared laughter.
