Songwriters' Circle #6
Songwriters' Circle #6
Since the launch of the house, at our ongoing Songwriters' Circle events, songwriters-performers, who are rarely or never seen on stage together, play music, sometimes even together, and share stories about their work, career, and all the nuances of songwriting. Always exciting conversations emerge among popular songwriter-performers that offer a glimpse into secret worlds, and amidst the music, we might even hear new songs from them on occasion. This time, the two guests are Róbert Bérczesi, frontman of Hiperkarma, and Péter Müller Sziámi, a defining figure of the Hungarian new wave, frontman of URH, Kontroll Group, Sziámi, and AndFriends, with cultural journalist Adrienn Csepelyi as the discussion moderator. While our heroes, who also release joint records, share their workshop secrets, the audience gets a bit of a behind-the-scenes look. We see how a melody fragment or a text snip becomes whole, why an idea works, what sparks the inspiration, based on different methods. It's an evening of spontaneous reactions, improvisational situations, unexpected recognitions, and joyful discoveries — you wouldn't want to miss it!
Róbert Bérczesi
Róbert Bérczesi, guitarist-singer, has been involved in songwriting for over thirty years. The frontman of HIPERKARMA has had, and will continue to have, a huge impact on many throughout his novel-worthy adventurous career. Robi's unique and unmistakable music and lyrical world perfectly reflect his entirely unique approach and mindset towards life. If you're interested in a peculiar, yet livable and lovable perspective and also enjoy pleasant melodies, you should definitely check out Robi on this evening!
Péter Müller Sziámi
Péter Müller Sziámi has been writing poems and song lyrics since the age of three — "so I call myself a poet and lyricist." He was drawn to music early on, then graduated in film and television directing from the Academy of Performing Arts, and towards the end of his studies, in 1980, returned to music, first with URH, then as a member of Kontroll Group, later with Sziámi, becoming one of the key figures of the eighties, and he continued with the latter band into the nineties, while also working as one of the founders of the Sziget festival. After 2009, he organized a band under the name AndFriends and, alongside many other activities — such as joint songs and albums with Róbert Bérczesi — continues to perform and release records with this formation to this day.
