Kobza Vajk Group: Ada Kaleh's Acsension

For more than 15 years, Vajk Kobza has been one of the most thrilling performers on the Hungarian contemporary oriental and improvisational world music scenes. The music of the Vajk Kobza Group is found at the intersection of Middle East modular music traditions, the freedom of European jazz, the legacy of ancient melodies, and the desire to explore new paths in the present. Their vision is to leave categories of genre behind and bring music created in the moment to a higher level, made even more enthralling by their unusual instrumentation and utterly unique sound. In this concert, Vajk Kobza will also draw from his previous albums, while the initial sounds of his upcoming songs should also be heard here for the first time. The group’s performances offer a conscious and unique journey into the familiar unknown. Listening to their concerts, it is as if Ada Kaleh – the island submerged in the lower Danube – were to rise again from the depths.
