In the Lunchtime series of the House of Hungarian Music, we can enjoy short concerts by young talents at lunchtime, and the 35-minute mini-concerts even leave time for a meal. At this April’s event in the series – for the second time now – the audience can hear the wind quintet of the Szent István Király Music School (Janka Oláh – flute, Anna Oroszi – oboe, Lívia Sándor – clarinet, Soma Horváth – horn, Bertalan Nádasdi – bassoon), who since their last performance have adopted the name Kvintkör Wind Quintet, and this time will perform the cream of twentieth-century Hungarian wind quintet literature. One of our greatest composer-giants, György Ligeti, made arrangements for wind quintet from the movements of his witty piano cycle entitled Musica ricercata, thus creating the Six Bagatelles. Dénes Ágay, who mostly lived and worked in America, is remembered primarily for his pedagogically oriented musical works, as evidenced by his composition entitled Five Easy Dances. Frigyes Hidas was among our country’s most prolific chamber music composers; he gave his second wind quintet the title Lo svago, which in Italian means diversion, free time.
The Trilla restaurant of the House of Music awaits its guests with a special two-course menu prepared just for this event. In the restaurant next to the Auditorium, which hosts the Lunchtime concerts, guests can choose from a meat or a vegetarian menu.
