DOME_SPATIAL – European Spatial Sound Exchange
Eyes down, ears open! The current DOME_SPATIAL will be presented as part of a special spatial sound project, European Spatial Sound Exchange (ESSE), and will entice the connoisseur class of those flirting with sound art to a deep listening session with lowered eyes. Among the four works to be played during the evening there is a sound walk, a verbal performance and sound works that tackles acute social issues. DOME_SPECIAL is part of the European Spatial Sound Exchange (ESSE), a pilot project by Monom, as part of MusicAIRE (An Innovative Recovery for Europe), co-funded by the European Union.
MONOM is a creative studio and collective of artists, technologists, and spaces dedicated to exploring the expressive possibilities of spatial sound as an artistic medium. Their primary studio is located in the Funkhaus in Berlin, a vast complex that once served as the broadcasting center for the GDR. As part of the ESSE project, MONOM has initiated a dialogue with four venues boasting spatial sound capabilities across Europe to organize a listening session. During this session, they will showcase four selected sound works from their archive, each spatialized using the 4DSOUND instrument originally for the 48,9 system.
The participating venues include House of Music in Hungary, Dom im Berg in Graz, Cosmo in Venice, and ZiMMT in Leipzig. As part of the events the following works will be played as diffusions (only listening sessions without the presence of the artists): Lovotic by Soundwalk Collective w/ Charlotte Gainsbourg feat Atom™, Lyra Pramuk, Paul B. Preciado, Willem Dafoe Bendik Giske Women, Freedom, Life by Zoë Mc Pherson Human / Weather / Machine by William Russell commissioned by Stiftung Zollverein’s NEW NOW Festival The stations of the overall tour of the ESSE is the following:
