Murcof (MEX) I Áron Lőrinczi
The Mexican glitch and ambient magician Murcof presents his audiovisual work The Etna Sessions in the form of an exclusive séance. Using recordings taken from the area surrounding the Italian volcano, the music simmers as a magmatic mix of drone music, atmospheric dub and abstract techno. The project’s goal is to present an audiophile musical experience that lays bare the relationship between the natural and digital worlds. The limited capacity, sit-down show will be opened by Áron Lőrinczi, whose experimental ambient work Closure Brochure is released this spring.
MURCOF
It is typical of the Mexican electronic musician Fernando Corona’s artistic attitude that he is capable of conjuring beauty even from the desert. His music is rich in detail, emotionally charged and truly captivating. Murcof’s style combines minimalist electronic compositions with elements of contemporary classical music and ambient, drone and industrial music. While his earlier works were dominated by orchestral samples, in his later creations the emphasis is on textural atmospheres and organically sourced field recordings. Corona was born in 1970 in Tijuana, Mexico. Over the course of his musical career, he has worked as a member of the Nortec Collective and also relocated to Barcelona in 2006. Corona’s 2005 album Remembranza and the 2008 The Versailles Sessions, where he reinterpreted Baroque and classical music elements with modern electronic sounds, are particularly notable. In his live performances, Corona has collaborated with artists of the calibre of trumpet player Erik Truffaz and classical pianist Francesco Tristano.
ÁRON LŐRINCZI
The electronic songwriter and DJ Áron Lőrinczi, a member of the Műhely collective and record label, completed his studies at the Electronic Music and Media Arts Faculty of the University of Pécs in 2020. In the very same year, he also liberated his musical alterego, Obwigszyh. Lőrinczi's techno output has enhanced the back catalogues of Műhely, BRVTAL, and the Spanish label Subsist. His ambient material regularly appears under the EXILES label, while he also recorded a cassette with the Danish label Fallen Metropolis. In late 2024, he initiated a creative project under his own name where live improvisation, impenetrably dense vocal veils and abstraction take centre stage. The Closure Brochure LP, released under the EXILES label, is the first example of this artistic reinvention. Lőrinczi’s music is characterised by repetitive elements and melodies born from the vagaries of chance.
