Rhapsody in Blue at 100 – BDZ Chamber Ensemble Plays Gershwin
George Gershwin (1898-1937) has a very special place in the history of classical music. He has countless musical predecessors, and yet very few ever really lived up to him. In 2024, it will be exactly 100 years since he composed his most famous work, the short piano concerto (often mistakenly called a symphony) Rhapsody in Blue, which not only turned the life of the barely 26-year-old composer upside down, but the entire musical world as it then was.
