Musicians' Café - Live Gypsy Music at Trilla Restaurant
Whether it's the exhilarating melodies of string Romani orchestras or the moving tunes of bar pianists, music has always filled the restaurants, pubs, and cafés of Hungarian towns. The Musicians' Café series, launched in the café of the House of Hungarian Music, takes the audience once a month into the world of hospitality musicians. During our café evenings the tavern atmosphere of Gyula Krúdy's era comes to life — the time of Pál Jávor, Antal Páger, celebrities who partied with bands, or the age of decadent gentry. The series aims to draw attention to one of our most important hungaricums, the sadly increasingly sidelined café Romani music. This time the evening of Salasovics Norbert and his band provides an example of café music-making.
We welcome our guests with a welcome drink, and, true to the spirit of the Musicians' Café, dinner and drinks are available at the concert venue.
Salasovics Norbert
He began his studies at the Molnár Antal Music School at the age of 5, where his teacher was Császárné Simon Valéria. At 14 he was admitted to the Bartók Béla Conservatory, where he continued his violin studies.
He has played in restaurants and hotels since the age of 18. "I have played in many places around the world: Germany, Switzerland, Mexico, Korea. My teacher is primarily my father, who won first place in the 1984 Vonóparbaj. I have taken part in several competitions: 1st and 2nd place in the János Koncz violin competition, 2nd place in the Czinka Panna primás competition. I have been playing every evening for nine years now in a downtown restaurant with my band."
The aim of the series is to draw attention to one of the most important parts of Hungarian heritage, the Roma music of the cafés, which sadly is increasingly neglected nowadays.
