Cimbalom Salon: Giani Lincan (ROU) and Jenő Lisztes
Cimbalom Salon: Giani Lincan (ROU) and Jenő Lisztes
This programme is held in Hungarian.
If someone says "cimbalom," and you reply "Lisztes or Lincan," you're right. But on December 14, you'll be right twice over. These two heavyweights, two colleagues, two international careers, are coming together as a duo for the first time, just the two of them, just two cimbaloms. No band, no background music – just the best of the instrument, an equal, free musical dialogue – on the cimbalom. Gypsy music, jazz, improvisation – as only those who have not only learned the craft of music but have become one with their instrument can do.
Jenő Lisztes and Giani Lincan are both well-known names in the world of the cimbalom – but now, for the first time, we can hear them playing together as a duo. On December 14, in the main hall of the House of Music, everything will revolve around the instrument: the universe that this Eastern European instrument can explore when played by true masters. Their common roots are in gypsy music, their virtuosity transcends borders, and their repertoire ranges from classical to improvisation to jazz – now these two separate worlds meet to form two parts from a single instrument. It is a musical world that only those who have played everything dare to enter. Now, finally, they are playing for each other.
