Singing Together with Julia Karosi
The programme is held in Hungarian.
Singing together is a good thing — whether in the car with our friends during a trip to Lake Balaton, singing our favorite songs together at a concert, or singing happy birthday to a family member. Communal singing has great magic, so we invited four wonderful female singers to introduce us to the mysteries of different genres. They will bring well-known and lesser-known songs so that through them they can familiarize us with the musical language of each style, and under their guidance we will also perform the songs together.
The closing event of the series will be a true celebration of song, from the world of blues and gospel — genres sharing roots with jazz — with the versatile singer and educator, Júlia Karosi.
Júlia's thoughts on the beauties of singing together: “Singing together is uplifting, elevating, an experience that purifies our emotions. Especially if we choose repertoire from genres that stir deep emotions, like blues and gospel. Simple melodies that can easily be learned by ear, and parts and backing vocals that can be improvised and layered, reacting to the participants' nuances. This creates a unique and unrepeatable experience, the wonderful experience of singing together.”
Júlia is the leader of the jazz singers' choir at the Bartók Béla Secondary School of Music, the developer of her own pedagogical material based on Bartók Béla's Mikrokozmosz pieces, a lecturer at the Jazz Department of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, and has been a presenter at numerous domestic and international masterclasses, including at the Manhattan School of Music. Under her guidance, participants can experience this unique and unrepeatable shared musical experience and connection.
Everyone is warmly welcome; no musical or vocal training is required — anyone who wishes can safely join in the shared musical experience!
