Since the launch of the House, our ongoing Songwriters’ Circle events have brought together songwriter-performers who are rarely seen side by side on stage; they play music, sometimes even together, and meanwhile talk about their work, their career, and every shade of songwriting. These conversations between popular songwriter-performers always turn into exciting exchanges that provide a glimpse into secret worlds. This time the three guests are András Áron, Krisztina Szeder-Szabó and Csaba Szendrői, with cultural journalist Adrienn Csepelyi as moderator and discussion partner. While our heroes, who know each other from sharing concert stages, reveal some of their workshop secrets, the audience gets a peek behind the scenes. An unrepeatable evening of spontaneous reactions, improvised situations, unexpected realizations and joyful discoveries – it would be a mistake to miss it!
András Áron
The name András Áron “Apey” is familiar to most – as a member of LAZARVS, Black Circle Orchestra, Trillion and former member of Neck Sprain, he is one of the key figures of the Hungarian scene. However, he is also active as a solo artist, releasing folk-tinged, acoustic singer-songwriter albums. His first solo album, Feathers, Black Flowers, released in 2010, reflects his childhood. His second album, Foxes, released in May 2016, was inspired by his personal feelings, sleep disorders and the years he spent working nights as a waiter. A year later, in 2017, his third full-length album, Stranger, was released. In February 2019 Artisjus honored him as Junior Songwriter of the Year for his outstanding songwriting and versatile sound. His fourth album, Book of Changes, came out in autumn 2020, and a few months later he won his second Fonogram Award with LAZARVS’s fourth album. Not long after, in the summer of 2021, he released his fifth full-length album, titled Changes, featuring rearranged versions and recorded together with the members of his new band, Black Circle Orchestra. Thanks to great interest, the new formation has appeared on the main stages of all major Hungarian festivals and played a sold-out show at the House of Hungarian Music. In October 2022 András had the opportunity to record his sixth album in Nashville, Tennessee, at Prime Recording Studio with producer Derek Garten, who has worked with artists such as Brittany Howard, Taylor Swift and Jewel. The ten-track album The Moment was released in 2023. In April 2025 András released another milestone record, Colors at Dusk – a deeply personal album containing nine songs that evoke the music and artists that have had a defining impact on his musical development and songwriting journey. Most of the singles from Colors at Dusk performed exceptionally well on Spotify’s US editorial playlists, further strengthening Aron’s international presence in the Americana and indie folk scene.
Krisztina Szeder-Szabó
Szeder, the Junior Artisjus Award-winning singer-songwriter, has been a unique presence in the Hungarian pop scene and the world of indie folk-pop since 2014. She has released three albums and two EPs. With her distinctive perspective she strives to brighten everyday life with tiny everyday miracles, humor and imagination. Alongside the cheerful moments, her lyrics also convey emotional depth, best expressed in acoustic, solo guitar concerts thanks to the intimate atmosphere. In the trio’s sound, the delicate interplay of backing vocals and violin really brings out the songs’ intimate world, while in full-band concerts the genuine emotions and high energy are even more palpable on stage. Her performance style is direct and creates an interactive connection with the audience. Over the past 11 years she has performed regularly at renowned venues and at the largest festivals in Hungary and in Hungarian-speaking regions beyond the border, celebrating the 10th anniversary of this career in 2024 at Várkert Bazár. After a longer creative period, her latest EP was released in December 2025.
Csaba Szendrői
Csaba Szendrői, frontman and vocalist-lyricist of the band Elefánt, has been on stage for nearly 15 years. In 2018 Artisjus named him Lyricist of the Year, but beyond music he has also made his mark in many other areas. His modern, bold and uncompromising lyrics are deep and moving, yet carry a sense of simplicity. His versatility is proven by the fact that Scolar Publishing has already released four of his books, he is a regular guest at literary evenings, has worked as a creative copywriter, and has also tried his hand in the world of gastronomy. In 2020 he came up with the #olvasniszabad (“reading is allowed”) movement, aimed at popularizing reading, self-development and highlighting the impact of reading on an individual’s personality, consciousness and thinking. He has written the lyrics to Elefánt’s music across 5 albums and numerous singles, and his fanbase of tens of thousands follows his posts day by day.
