Can the Sonata Be a Favorite? Here Are the Top 10!
This program will be held in Hungarian.
The “musical glossary” continues and another genre is brought into focus, as the counterpart to the symphony: the sonata. A boring and old-fashioned genre? We look back to the 18th century again, where its most familiar form developed, but the roots reach further. It is undeniable that the genre was perfected under Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven and that over the centuries these works were written mainly for piano. That is why pianist Márton Mikulík returns once more to the Hangadó Senior audience so that together we can find the 10 most exciting sonatas!
Live music again in the current Hangadó Senior performance! It couldn’t really be otherwise, since the genre, the sonata, calls for a keyboard instrument... it has a history and such works are still being composed today, yet on this occasion we strive to give the audience a somewhat deeper understanding of the genre’s characteristics and its deservedly popular or otherwise special pieces. Which are the TOP 10? That is partly a matter of personal taste and partly of common agreement, since there are composers and works that appear on almost every selection. Pianist Márton Mikulík, piano teacher at the Bartók Béla Secondary School of Music, will once again help us. Domenico Scarlatti, C. Ph. E. Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin, Scriabin... and there’s more in store! Anyone curious about the selection can learn everything from the performer! Tápai Dóra, conductor, secondary school singing and music teacher, and music educator at the House of Music, as usual will take care of the good atmosphere; interesting stories and some form of shared activity are also to be expected!
Our series Hangadó Senior is especially aimed at older participants, but of course we welcome anyone who is interested. The aim of the series is to act as a club and to playfully tell a chapter of music history in an hour-long interactive journey through time.
