András Berecz: A Tale About Music

At this event, the singer and storyteller András Berecz will speak of the birth of music and its divine and human meaning. With unbridled humour, he will explore Hungarian, Ancient Greek, Mongolian, Kazakh, Chuvash and Irish legends and fairytales with boundless energy. Through the fates and struggles of ancient gods and spirits, Berecz will tell us of the power of music, its divine and earthly nature, and the contact and collisions between the two. He will speak of almost tangible and living impossibilities, and make at times ruthless judgments of both bad and good musicians and melodies of peace and war. Berecz’s timeless and valid musical aesthetic, built on a library’s worth of literature and the statements found in musical notes, is interspersed with and validated by music and vocals. His collaborator for the evening, Dániel Szabó, will express the inner truths of a wealth of musical fairytales through his Apollonian instrument, the cimbalom.

Main illustrators for the show: Giorgione and Titian, creators of the cassettes of the Băgara (Bogártelke) Reformed Church.

This program is held in Hungarian.
