Sound/man is a special conversational-musical series in which well-known musicians, as storytellers, share their personal experiences and creative secrets. It is a unique experience that creates truly special moments for passionate fans who are interested not only in the music but also in the musicians’ personal stories. The audience can experience the performance, enriched with musical interludes, in a special “stage-free,” intimate atmosphere, thus ensuring an inward, direct, and one-of-a-kind experience. At the sixth edition of the series, Balázs Zságer will play music and tell stories. He has titled the upcoming Sound/man event Cosmic Corridors of Sound – Spiritual Quest in Electronic Music.
Balázs Zságer’s presentation titled Cosmic Corridors of Sound presents a personal creative journey: the story of the path that has accompanied the creator from the beginning of his career to the present. We learn how music transforms from a technical playground into an inner path, and then into a transcendent gateway. How the experience of making music evolves from the instinctive joy of entertainment to the realm of hypnotic rhythms and the pure experience of vibration – where sounds become music, and vibrations form a corridor opening toward a cosmos.
The presentation is not merely storytelling or a collection of theoretical ideas: it also contains live musical interludes, during which the audience can follow in real time the birth of a new piece and gain practical insight into production work – from different starting points, through building up layers of sound, to the conscious use of randomness.
Balázs Zságer
Balázs Zságer has been active on the Hungarian and international electronic music scene since the early 2000s, and as the leader of Žagar he has produced numerous studio albums and film scores. His tracks have been remixed by, among others, Deadbeat, Terry Lee Brown Jr., and Vakula. In recent years he has experimented with various electronic instruments – from vintage analog synths to modular systems – and has performed at numerous international art festivals (Live Cinema Rome, Patchlab Art Festival, Vision of Sound London, Synästhesie Berlin). As the head of the Free Sequence label, he is the resident of the Transcendent Waves ambient event series. In 2024 he released his first solo album, titled Aqua Obscura, which was recently followed by the Sacral Design EP.
His work is inspired by the extremes of nature and technology, calm and chaos, the spiritual and the synthetic – while he searches for identity and meaning in this in-between space. His music is surrounded by a surreal, almost cyber-mystical atmosphere. In his live performances he mostly creates a psychedelic sound world, using synthesizer textures and slowly evolving processes to keep his listeners in a hypnotic flow state.
