Intermezzo Festival 2026
On 22 May, for the fourth time, the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) and the House of Music Hungary will hold their joint interdisciplinary event, the Intermezzo Festival. This year’s programme explores the intersections of music, visuality and contemporary dance, giving space to student projects and key productions of the Hungarian underground scene.
Music programme
This year’s performers are built on stylistic diversity: Samurai Drive brings electronic blues with a noir aesthetic, while the joint project of Gege and Bizmuth arrives with the meeting of improvised rap and modular electronics. Also performing are the jazz‑funk fusion outfit Berlin Hotel Collective, the indie‑post‑punk band Telehold, and Gánjálló, who combine Balkan and Eastern European melodies with free improvisation.
Exhibition and installations
One of the central elements of the festival is the pop‑up exhibition of MOME students, which can be visited between 11 and 25 May in the spaces of the House of Music Hungary. The site‑specific installations examine the relationship between sound and visuality. The exhibited works sometimes present the “invisible” colours and forms of sound, elsewhere the constant changes of sound waves, the dynamics of rhythm and volume, or the monotonous noises of everyday life.
Movement art and workshop
The visual experiences are complemented by performances from students of the Hungarian Dance University. Visitors can also take part in the workshop of the Wild & Resty dance studio, which focuses on body awareness and the dynamics of movement.
Sound Dome – MöB x Klöpfler-Topor Tibor
The immersive experience is completed by the audio‑visual séances of the Sound Dome, where performances interwoven with organic sounds place spatial and sound perception in a new dimension.
