Born in Brixton, South London, Mansur Brown is the definition of a child prodigy: a classically trained guitarist making music that balances virtuosic precision with broad emotional expression. Mansur's distinctive compositional technique blends a number of musical worlds (there are a plethora of good labels for his music: nu-jazz, deep funk, instrumental hip-hop, etc.) with jazzy flamenco-inspired, funky, airy guitar-playing and a distinctive production style that incorporates the revolutionary R&B of the early noughties – with Timbaland style bursts of broken rhythm – and the Afrobeat twists that have been in vogue in recent years, along with a melancholic, metropolitan dubstep sound palette reminiscent of Burial. Prior to the show, homegrown Hungarian dub roots act SunMa will be showcasing their latest album.
