Musicians
This programme is held in Hungarian.
Whether it be the exhilarating tunes of string gypsy bands or the moving melodies of lounge pianists, the restaurants, pubs, and cafes of Hungarian cities have always been imbued with music. Starting in the café of the House of Music, Hungary, the Musicians' Café series takes the audience into the world of hospitality musicians once a month. During our café nights, the atmosphere of restaurants from the era of Gyula Krúdy comes to life, along with the celebrities who partied with the band like Pál Jávor, Antal Páger, or the era of decadent gentry. The aim of the series is to highlight one of our most important cultural heritages, café gypsy music, which is increasingly being pushed into the background these days. This time, the café music of lounge pianists is exemplified by the evening of Dezső Balogh.
Guests will be offered a welcome drink and, in keeping with the spirit of the Musicians' Café, dinner and drinks will be available at the concert venue.
Dezső Balogh started his musical career under Vilma Ittzés and Emil Csonka, and later on he worked with Tibor Márkus, Kálmán Oláh and Kálmán Oláh, and Emil Csonka. He improved his skills under the tutelage of Márla Malá, Kalá, and Béla Szakcsi Lakatos. He participated in numerous orchestras and formations and played in Budapest's most prestigious hotels from an early age.
During his career, he has performed in the most prestigious hotels in Europe and the world, including Monte Carlo and the prestigious five-star hotels of Switzerland.
He is a regular performer at the most elegant hotels and exclusive events. He believes that the Hungarian bar pianist tradition should be preserved and promoted, as this genre has earned Hungary worldwide recognition.
The aim of the series is to draw attention to one of the most important parts of Hungarian heritage, the Roma music of the cafés, which sadly is increasingly neglected nowadays.
