Pál Utcai Fiúk – Essence
In the autumn of 2024, the band Pál Utcai Fiúk kicked off a special concert series, saying, “We might never have had such a thematically oriented and comfortable tour before as we're playing in great venues!” This is why they named the tour Essence. Each of their albums featured songs that were very rarely performed in a traditional concert. This was either because of the special requirements of their instrumentation, or the band simply thought their mood would not be right for a concert where people came to dance. These are essentially the songs that will be performed at the House of Music Hungary. Of course, they won’t be leaving out the songs a Pál Street Boys concert would be unimaginable without today, “At these concerts we will truly offer you, the World’s Best Audience, the essence of PUF.”
One of the longest-playing alternative rock bands in Hungary, Pál Utcai Fiúk formed in the 1980s. They started playing music as a self-taught garage band and, after the regime change, they toured regularly and released their successful and popular albums in quick succession, the latest of which, Igazán ez minden (Just About Everything), was released in 2019. With their early albums – Ha jön az álom… (When I Start to Dream, 1990), A bál (The Ball’ 1991), A nagy rohanás (The Big Rush, 1992), the band quickly became one of the most popular in the country. In 1995, they went on a national tour – the memorable Lying Band Competition concert tour – with the two other most successful rock bands of the time, Kispál és a Borzand Tankcsapda. Their popularity can perhaps be attributed to the fact that they have been performing continuously since their formation, and even after their 1500th concert, they still love to meet their audience as often as possible.
This program is held in Hungarian.
