Bródy 80 - pop-up exhibition opening
This programme is held in Hungarian.
János Bródy, a Kossuth Prize-winning artist celebrating his eightieth birthday on April 5, is a defining figure in twentieth-century Hungarian music and cultural history, the creator of Hungarian-language beat music. As a member of Illés and Fonográf, and later as a songwriter-performer, he did more than anyone else of his generation to ensure that beat/pop/rock music would become a recognized part of culture in Hungary as well. By presenting special relics, we follow the artist’s groundbreaking career spanning more than sixty years; at the opening, in addition to Bródy we will also welcome his creative partner, Levente Szörényi, whom we likewise congratulated last April on his 80th birthday at the Pop Cultural Club Library.
