DOME_030 DJ Palotai sound dome screening
Palotai Zsolt was the foremost introducer of modern electronic music genres in Hungary, the music director of Tilos az Á, a former founder of Tilos Rádió and its music editor-in-chief for many years. As a tribute to the legendary DJ who passed away on 18 November 2023, the visual collective Kiégő Izzók prepared a thematic screening for the Hangdóm's unique audiovisual dome, which pays tribute to Palotai Zsolt — regarded as the origin of trendsetting, urban DJ and party culture — by artistically stitching together photos and videos of him, recordings of his unique music collection, and footage of his personal belongings.
The music of the 360-degree film is one of DJ Palotai's last recorded mixes, which was played in the summer of 2023 at Tilos Rádió's fundraising festival, the Tilos Maraton, at the Cökxpon Chillegal venue.
The film premiered on March 9, World DJ Day, at the opening of the large-scale Palotai Zsolt memorial exhibition co-organized with Tilos Rádió, held at the House of Music. At the audiovisual exhibition, free to visit until the end of April, visitors can explore installations made of photographs, videos and personal belongings — an eclectic selection fitting Palotai Zsolt's exceptionally colorful musical taste, presented without claiming to be exhaustive.
